Got The Beat confirmed to return with a new single on Jan 2023

Got The Beat, a South Korean Supergroup, has confirmed to make a comeback with a new single in January 2023 via SpoTV, according to the report of the SpoTV.

A source from SM Entertainment responded to the report by saying, “GOT the Beat is getting ready with the intention of making a comeback in January. Please be interested.

The Members of the Got The Beat

GOT the beat is SM Entertainment’s Girls on Top (GOT) project’s first sub-unit, which brings together female SM Entertainment performers. Hyoyeon,  BoA, and Taeyeon from Girls’ Generation, Wendy and  Seulgi from Red Velvet, and Winter and Karina from Aespa make up the group’s seven members.

The Got the Beat lineup of recording artists includes the group’s members. Since her solo debut in 2000 at 13, BoA has been a working artist. In 2007, Taeyeon and Hyoyeon made their debut with Girls’ Generation, and in 2018, they joined the group’s second sub-unit, Oh! GG. Taeyeon has been a member of Girls’ Generation-TTS, the group’s first sub-unit, since 2012.

Performing as soloists since 2015 and 2016, respectively, are Taeyeon and Hyoyeon. In 2014, Seulgi and Wendy made their Red Velvet debuts. Since 2020, Seulgi has been a part of Red Velvet’s sub-unit Red Velvet – Irene & Seulgi, while Wendy made her solo debut in 2021. In 2020, Karina and Winter made their Aespa debuts.

Debut with “Step Back”

The hip-hop and R&B hit “Step Back,” released by the new project group on January 3 of this year, quickly achieved the top music charts. View the performance video for “Step Back” below.

On December 27, 2021, SM Entertainment announced the debut of Girls On Top, a project group, and its first sub-unit, Got the Beat, with Got the Beat specializing in aggressive dance music and performances. The group’s first song, “Step Back,” was scheduled to be released on January 3, 2022, according to a statement made on December 28, 2021. The song’s highest point was at number 5 on the Billboard World Digital Songs Chart and 11 on the Gaon Digital Chart.

On January 1, the group unveiled the inaugural “Step Back” performance stage at the SM Town Live 2022: SMCU Express at Kwangya. A little over a month later, they made their formal broadcast debut on the music show M Countdown. On January 30, Got the Beat received their first music show award on SBS’s Inkigayo.

SM announced on December 23, 2022, that Got the Beat will release a new single in January 2023.
